Trên vùng Bản Hét
KIM TUẤN
Bản Hét ta chào mi đấy nhé
Chiều mưa che khuất núi đồi xa
Chiều mưa ta đứng trên đầu gió
Thương mình hơn những bóng mây qua
Bản Hét thương đời anh lính trẻ
Quanh năm chờ phép về thăm nhà
Quanh năm trấn thủ đời gian khổ
Hầm đất nhìn quanh ta với ta
Bản Hét những chiều không pháo kích
Trời im nghe gió thổi qua mau
Rừng im nghe cánh chim xào xạc
Đồn im nghe súng bỗng dưng sầu
Bản Hét hành quân vùng Tam Biên
Núi cao như dựng với sông liền
Rừng sâu màu lá xanh da mặt
Cơm sấy ăn sao nhớ mẹ hiền
Mẹ hiền phương đó con đầu núi
Bưng biền chưa hết trọn đời trai
Bưng biền đêm gối tay lên súng
Bỗng thấy thương thân, bỗng thở dài…

On Ban Het Zone
English version by NGUYEN HUU LY
Ban Het, Hi! There
Distant hills and mountains were hidden by the rainy evening
While standing in a wind-swept place
I felt pity for myself much more than for the flying clusters of cloud images
Ban Het cherished fondly the young combatant's living
In waiting patiently for a leave to revisit his family all the year round
Round the year, he defended the strategic position overflowing with hardships
Under the underground banker, he looked around alone, by himself
At Ban Het, on the evenings without enemy artillery shellings
The swift blowing wind was heard in the calm weather
Birds were fluttering their wings in the quiet forest
Hearing the gunshots resounding from afar, the silent outpost became pervasively sad
Ban Het launched an operation in the Three - Frontiers zone
Where high mountains that looked like raising rocks up with long rivers
Deep forests abounded in green - pale foliages
Why did I miss my kind mother in eating the dry rice
She still stayed there, whereas her son was at this mountain end
The whole duties of a young man was not completely finished yet in the resistance area
When he slept there at night-time in putting his hand on the weapon as a pillow
All in a sudden, he felt compassionate for himself and sighed…
