Sẽ có một ngày
NGUYỄN PHAN NGỌC AN
Sẽ có một ngày ta trở lại
Núi sông hùng vĩ mượt màu xanh
Dòng thác reo vui mừng khách lạ
Muôn hoa đua nở rộ trên cành
Sẽ có một ngày tay xiết tay
Mừng mừng, tủi tủi rượu thơ say
Tàn đêm thức trắng niềm tâm sự
Thân phận ly hương những tháng ngày!
Sẽ có một ngày ta với ta
Đồi cao vang dậy khúc hoan ca
Chim muông cầm thú cùng vui hót
Chào đón mùa xuân đẹp thái hòa...
Sẽ có một ngày bao chiến binh
Trở về đất Mẹ, giữa bình minh
Thuyền xưa bến cũ dang tay đợi
Lệ đá rưng rưng khóc chuyện tình!
Chuyện tình của những kẻ ly hương
Quên mất mùa xuân chốn dặm trường
Bỏ ngỏ tim hồng nơi xứ lạnh
Nhìn nhau bỡ ngỡ tóc pha sương
Sẽ có một ngày con của Mẹ
Tìm về dòng máu chảy trong tim
Thiết tha nguồn cội bao ngăn cách
Dựng lại non sông... kiến thái bình

There will be one day
English version by NGUYEN HUU LY
There will be one day we shall return
To our majestic country in velvety greens
Its waterfall flow would shout for joy in greeting strange visitors
Myriads of flowers would compete in full bloom on the branches
There will be one day we shall squeeze everybody's hands tightly
Having mixed feedings - happiness and self-pity-in our passion for drink and poetry
We shall stay up all night to unbosom ourselves
In our fateful wandering days and months abroad!
There will be one day among us
When the high hilltop will resound far and wide with cheering singsongs
Birds and beasts could have a pleasant twittering ensemble
To extend a warm welcome a nice, peaceful, and prosperous spring…
There will be one day, so many combatants
Will come back to their Motherland in the heart of dawn
The former boat and its landing place will await them with open arms
Tears welling up in their eyes to sob out the love stories!
The expatriates' love stories
Which they have forgotten entirely about the spring during their life's long journey
To cast aside their rosy heart in a freezing country
They will pear at the hoary hair together at fault
There will be one day, as our Mother's sons,
We shall seek for our bloodstream circulating in our heart
Very keen on the idea of origin which was so separate
We shall rebuild our homeland... and set its peace up
