Nghe Chim Hót
Trên Đồi 55
PHAN XUÂN SINH
Nằm trong hầm, lắng nghe chim hót
Mà tưởng mình đang sống thái bình
Tiếng súng, tiếng chim. Nghe buồn lạ
Vây quanh ta giữa chốn đao binh
Chắc bây giờ em vừa bát phố
Đang ung dung trau chút sắc hương
Tìm phấn son, thay đôi giày mới
Thong thả dạo quanh những con đường
Ta vẫn nằm. Trên đồi gió thổi
Chim hót ban ngày, pháo dội ban đêm
Em cứ chạy theo từng mốt mới
Còn ta, uống rượu để tìm quên
Trên đồi trọc, cỏ không kịp mọc
Sống chết một đời có nghĩa chi
Khi tỉnh giấc, ngó bên rào chim hót
Lòng ta đau, nhìn mãi cuộc tình đi
Như thỏi son môi. Không còn thắm
Nên em quên một thứ chẳng cần
Ta bấn loạn, cơn đau cùng cực
Chào thua. Em trong cõi trầm luân
Listening To Bird
Twitterings On Hill 55
ENGLISH VERSION BY NGUYEN HUU LY
Lying down on the underground bunker, I listen to bird twitterings
But I believe wrongly that I’m presently living in peacetime
Sounds of gunshots, of bird singings. Extraordinary sorrowful
Everything surrounds me in this place at war
It is certain that you are loitering in the streets, now
Or comfortably titivating yourself
Either you are finding cosmetics, or changing your pair of new shoes
Or you are leisurely going for a ramble around the roads
I still lie down. The wind is blowing on the hill
Birds twitter in the daytime. Artillery guns shell at nighttime
You continue to run after every latest fashion
As for me, I drown my oblivion in drink
On a bare hill, grasses have enough time to grow
Life and death in the human existence don’t make any sense
Upon waking up, I look at the singing birds over the fence
My heart suffers painfully from seeing all the time the departed love
That looks like a lipstick–no much longer gorgeous
So you can forget such a needless thing
I get flustered in the utmost sufferance
Hi, I’m worsted! You are downed in this vale of perdition
