Oh, My Love!
Life is Heart-breaking by Nature
English version by Nguyen Huu Ly
On the morrow—I’ll be back home
Despite rivers are dried up of water—and dykes are broken down
My return—is it real or do I dream it?
The areca palm garden with fallen leaves—as you waited for quite a long time now
Do mountains and rivers ever know about my return?
A man of old returns—after days of ebbs and flows
To stoop down and kiss the land of my birthplace
Feelingless—Heaven and Earth keep mum
As a Yellow Crane—Thinking to myself I feel heart-broken
Upon my return, I don’t know sure everything is remained as it was before
The ancient orn of the moon—has turned into the color of time
On whom did war inflict untold lying down deaths?
But the man of old was extremely distant
I return while clouds are still white and flying
As for me, I’ve not ended yet—my days in exile
I return while my motherland is still suffering
My old country is just the same—as always the same miserable color
Oh, my love! Life is heart-breaking by nature
The old world has already fallen apart—getting involved in it that makes more sorrowful
My return—the former horse passes through the mountain col
Its long paces of buggy—evoke everlasting melancholy feelings
My old country! A plot of land—where my mother was laid to rest
Wandering in strange land! Very nostalgic so that
I come back to see it to the bitter end
My return—I gather up my all sweet remembrances
To share weal and woe in each feeling of my agony
