Đêm thu uống trà
LÊ NGỌC HỒ
Một đỉnh trầm thơm, một ấm trà
Lung linh bạch lạp sáng bên hoa
Mắt tranh thủy mặc khi mờ tỏ
Nở chuyện thi văn những mặn mà
Sợi khói vào hương tỏa nhụy trà
Tưởng như chén nở đã thành hoa
Cánh lan hàm tiếu bờ môi ướt
Ngây ngất trà tinh thuở ngọc ngà
Ấm áp nồng thơm tay chén xinh
Trà em thục nữ lộ nguyên hình
Lim dim khóe mắt say hương lạ
Tí tách lò than ánh lửa trinh
Buông ngón đàn tranh nét nhạc xưa
Vị trà quyện giọng ngọt dư thừa
Chiếu điều gối gấm vào lưng mộng
Việt tộc cung đàn thánh thót đưa
Nẻo hướng về nguồn chia sẻ thêm
Thời gian đi nhẹ bước êm đềm
Duyên trà gặp gỡ tình quê mẹ
Xào xạc rơi vàng thu bước đêm

Tea Drinking in autumnal evening
English version by NGUYEN HUU LY
An urn of sweet-smelling incense, a pot of tea
The tallow candlelight illuminates glisteningly beside a pot of flowers
A Chinese ink drawing's eyes keep changing-now dim, now bright
Talking about poetry and prose are interesting matters
Smoke spreads the tea pistil's fragrance
It seems that the small tea-cup has already become a flower
The orchid petals begin to half-open over the wet lips
Infatuated by the tea essence in jade-like times
Lukewarm and perfumed tea in a nice handy cup
The tea of a gentle and meek girl lets out her true nature
Having her half-closed eyes, she is passionately fond of a strange fragrance
Cracking sounds explode from the brazier glaring of pure finelight
Stop playing the 16-chord zither in classical musical tunes
The tea palate leaves a superfluous, sweet after taste in the mouth
The bright red sedge mat pillows on a dreamy back
The Vietnamese musical first note sounds sweetly in a larghetto movement
Turning toward the original share more and more weals and woes
Time'll pass gently with light steps
The charm of tea'll meet the mother-country love
Yellow fallen leaves'll rustle in the autumnal evening footsteps.
